In higher education institutions, staff performance, job satisfaction, and retention are significantly influenced by organisational commitment. This study investigates the degree of organisational commitment among staff members at a South African institution. Data was gathered using a quantitative study design by means of a standardised questionnaire that was issued to administrative and academic staff from different faculties. In order to conduct this study, a convenient sample size of 114 was chosen. An organizational commitment questionnaire was used to collect data. The Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 26 was used to analyse the data. Data analysis was done using descriptive statistics and the inferential statistics in the form of the chi-square method of analysis. The study's findings indicate that staff members are typically dedicated to their jobs at the university in question. The study emphasises the value of professional development opportunities, leadership support, and equitable institutional policies in promoting higher levels of commitment. The management of the institution is advised to put certain human resource strategies into place in order to improve long-term retention and employee commitment.
