Abstract

The study examined the influence of digital technology on selected small and medium-sized enterprises in Anambra State, Nigeria. The specific objectives are to; examine the effects of social media marketing tools on the performance of selected SMEs and evaluate the effects of e-commerce platforms on the performance of selected SMEs in Anambra, Nigeria. A quantitative research design was adopted for the study. A structured questionnaire design with a 5-point Likert scale was used to collect data for the study. The data for this study was sourced from the National Bureau of Statistics, which provided information on the population of SMEs across different states in Nigeria. The data analysis utilized IBM SPSS Statistics (version 28.0) and multiple regression analysis. The results revealed that social media marketing tools have a significant effect on the performance of SMEs with a P-Value of (0.001<0.05) also, e-commerce platforms have a significant effect on the performance with a P-Value of (0.001<0.05) of selected SMEs in Anambra State. The study concluded that digital technology has a significant effect on the performance of SMEs in Anambra State. Therefore, SME owners or managers should adopt social media marketing to attain competitive advantage. The study recommended among others that the owners of SME businesses should prioritize the integration of social media marketing tools since it has a significant positive effect on their performance to enhance their brand visibility and customer engagement.
