Abstract

Monitoring performance of employees is key to organizational productivity, sustainability, and overall competitiveness. There-fore, the importance of investigating whether any system of performance management is perceived to be adequate cannot be emphasized enough. This study explored the employees' understanding of what the Integrated Quality Management System entails and if they perceived its implementation to be effective at a selected TVET college in Limpopo province. The study employed a qualitative research design method where 10 lecturers and two members of the management team were individually interviewed for the study. The study adopted a thematic data analysis technique. The results show that the participants had a fair understanding of what Integrated Quality Management System is about. However, they were not satisfied with the way it was implemented in their TVET college. This study contributes to the possible future implementation of the Integrated Quality Management System by the TVET colleges. Improved implementation has the potential to improve organizational performance, as well as help with other human resource functions, such as individual growth of employees and decisions for promotion. Additionally, understanding what the system en-tails has the potential of improving its support.
