This study explores the challenges and opportunities related to entrepreneurship development in rural South African communities, with a specific focus on the role of e-government infrastructure in fostering economic growth and reducing poverty and unemployment. Rural areas, particularly Ga-Mothiba in Limpopo Province, face limited access to critical services such as healthcare, education, and telecommunications, which exacerbates high unemployment and urban migration. In addition, restricted access to market information and government support limits the economic participation of rural populations. Agriculture, although a primary livelihood, is also under threat due to declining global demand and productivity. A descriptive case study design was adopted, grounded in a quantitative research framework. A total of 108 closed-ended questionnaires were distributed using purposive sampling, targeting both general residents and community leaders. Out of these, 90 questionnaires were completed and returned. The data were analysed using descriptive statistical methods via SPSS Version 25. Findings highlight the urgent need to expand e-government access in rural areas to bridge the digital divide and enhance socio-economic inclusion. The study underscores how e-government can empower rural youth, improve access to public services, and support national development objectives. Strategic policy implementation—aligned with Batho Pele principles—is essential for inclusive and sustainable rural developmentDownloads
