This study examines how employee empowerment affects worker performance, the mediating variable of employee engagement. A cross-sectional survey research design was employed. Using a sample of 202 respondents from the centre of national culture. The study employs partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to analyze data collected via structured questionnaires. Findings reveal that psychological empowerment positively impacts employee performance. Also, structural empowerment and psychological empowerment had a positive and significant effect on employee engagement. Furthermore, it was found that employee engagement positively influences employee performance. However, it was revealed that structural empowerment does not significantly influence employee performance. This research contributes to the existing literature by providing empirical evidence on the interplay between empowerment, engagement, and performance in a cultural institution context, highlighting the importance of HRM practices in fostering a motivated workforce.Downloads
