Abstract

This systematic literature review investigates the impact of digital transformation on supply chain optimisation in the field of industrial engineering. Drawing upon a synthesis of 68 peer-reviewed articles, the study identifies the technological enablers, strategic frameworks, and integration mechanisms that underpin digitally optimised supply chains. Key findings highlight the pivotal roles of digital technologies such as artificial intelligence AI, blockchain, the Internet of Things IoT, digital twins, and simulation-based analytics in enhancing supply chain visibility, resilience, and agility. The review uncovers how these technologies are integrated into strategic frameworks and operational processes to improve real-time decision-making, sustainability, and customer responsiveness. Additionally, the paper discusses sector-specific insights, barriers to implementation, and future research directions, concluding that digital transformation represents both a technological evolution and a strategic imperative for modern supply chain systems in industrial engineering.
